Jeeves the Garden Robot

Jeeves is a family of robots that solve actual problems for both private and public garden lovers. He will:

  • Remove slugs quickly and humanely
  • Remove weeds from your paths
  • Cut your grass

The platform provides AI tech that enable Jeeves to determine where and when slugs appear, where weeds are likely to grow, and where the grass grows the quickest.

In addition he will recognise its "family" when used privately, and its keeper when used publicly.  He does not share any information, that is not intended due to powerful edge computing.

The platform is based on ROS2, with  bespoke custom electronics based on the CM4/5 platform. The platform is equipped with a rich range of sensors.

Tor-Olav, was the lead engineer on the development of the Jeeves platform.

Remote operation room

A company running drilling rigs wanted to improve their environmental footprint by moving a number operations from offshore to an onshore operations room, reducing the need for helicopter transport, and the possibility of optimising operation when avoiding the hectic nature of life offshore.

The project planning consisted of work environment, mapping the existing operations, and what could move onshore without impacting HSE, and had a large optimising potential.

There a multitude of parameters to consider , such as cyber security, operational security, fallback plans in case of  failure et.al . This included process engineers, cybersecurity, designers, business analysts and more.

Tor-Olav had the role of program manager in the planning phase.

Annelid drilling robot

The Annelid drilling robot concept was a method for extracting minerals with the following traits:

  • Greatly reduced waste
  • Greatly reduced time to profit
  • Greatly reduced preparation cost
  • Ability to extract much smaller deposits of minerals
  • Easily relocatable equipment

Tor-Olavs role was as engineering manager, and community liaison, to gain support for mining in local communities.

Roxar Multiphase Salinity System

Real-time measurement of produced water conductivity and salinity in multiphase flows
Measuring conductivity and salinity of the produced water from a well is often an important operational
parameter for many oil and gas operators. Emerson offers a dedicated salinity sensor suitable for operating
in three-phase gas-liquid flows. The sensor measures the effect of the flow on the propagation of the
microwave signal in the volume between three probes. The conductivity of the water phase and the local
water-liquid ratio can be determined based on this data.

All rights to product are Emerson.  Please refer to their original documentation for further details.

Tor-Olav role was to project manage the development from idea, to finished product.
